Active Stretching: Boost Flexibility and Performance for Golfers

What is active stretching, and why is it crucial for golfers? Active stretching is a technique that engages your muscles through a push method instead of a pull, making it an essential practise for improving flexibility and preventing injury. This method helps avoid over-stretching weak muscles and aggravating tight ones. In essence, it involves actively engaging your muscles rather than passively stretching, which can potentially weaken your joints and hinder your overall performance on the golf course.

For example, when you are “stretching,” there is often no emphasis on what your muscles should be doing; it’s as if everyone’s body should make a similar shape, regardless of their mobility. This can lead to hypermobile individuals becoming even more hypermobile, while the more flexible parts of our body take on the extra stretch, which can cause damage—and will, if consistently done incorrectly.

Passive stretching can often involve leaning into the joint or pulling it, essentially contorting the joint, which over time can wear it down. Active stretching, on the other hand, focuses on activating the joint to assist with the stretch, making it ten times more effective. This method will restore your joints, help recover your body from injury, improve your posture, and, more importantly, enhance your performance while providing the flexibility your body has always desired. Our program is mainly designed for active individuals, using your strength to build your flexibility and restore the functional movement you felt in your 20s.

Our program is designed to give you robust joints, and our specialised Active Stretching technique means you only need to practice for 10 minutes twice a day to receive more benefits than a 60-90 minute studio gym class. Now it is time to learn how to apply this technique to the rest of your body!
